South Alabama 58, Central Arkansas 50
CONWAY, Ark. - Damaya Telemaque scored 21 points in the University of South Alabama women's basketball team win over Central Arkansas. In the first road game of the year for the Jaguars the freshman guard made her second career start, played 38 minutes, and shot 7-of-11 from the field to lead her team to a 58-50 non-conference victory at the Ferris Center and improve to 3-0 on the young season.
India Hall tied with Central Arkansas' Alaina Fisher with nine rebounds, and scored her only bucket of the game when she made a layup to take the lead back from the Sugar Bears with five minutes to go in the third quarter.
Appalachian State 81, Davidson 78
DAVIDSON, N.C. - With 21 seconds left in the game, Ashley Polacek hit the go-ahead 3-pointer to help lift Appalachian State University women's basketball (2-2) to an exhilarating 81-78 win over Davidson (2-2) on Saturday evening in John M. Belk Arena.
The Wildcats came back from a 78-73 deficit to tie up the contest before Madi Story found Polacek in the corner and drained the tie-breaking 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down.
Davidson had three opportunities on the other end to knot things up and force overtime, but App forced the hosts into some tough shots to clinch the win and snap a nine-game slide on the road.
UT Martin 97, Arkansas State 91 (OT)
MARTIN, Tenn. (11/17/18) – Double-doubles by Peyton Martin and Akasha Westbrook carried the Arkansas State women’s basketball team at UT Martin, but the Skyhawks pulled out a 97-91 overtime decision Saturday afternoon.
Martin had career highs of 27 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double while Westbrook had 16 points and a career best 14 rebounds. Morgan Wallace (13), Payton Tennison (11) and Jireh Washington (10) also reached double figures for A-State (1-2). Aundrea Adams and Chelsey Perry each had 21 points to lead the Skyhawks (3-1).
Rice 79, Little Rock 65
TTLE ROCK – Teal Battle dropped a career-high 19 points as Little Rock (2-1) dropped the first game of the season in a 79-65 contest against Rice (1-2) Saturday afternoon.
Battle's 19-point total tops her previous mark of 10 that she set against No. 5 Mississippi State last season. Seven of the sophomore's points came from the charity stripe, also passing a career-high that was previously set against Mississippi State. This is the third straight contest that Little Rock has had a player achieve a career-high scoring figure.
Montana State 67, Texas State 59
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State women's basketball team (1-2) failed to overcome a slow start in a 67-59 loss at the hands of the Montana State Bobcats (3-1) on Saturday evening at Strahan Arena.
Texas State was led in scoring by senior guard Toshua Leavitt for the third game in three tries this season. She scored 19 points, giving her double-figure scoring in 10-straight ballgames dating back to last season. Leavitt connected on 4-of-11 3-point tries running her tally of consecutive games with multiple made 3-point field goals to 22 games. Sophomore forward Jayla Johnson tallied double-figures for the second time in as many games. She scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds off the bench.
