Women's Basketball Recaps and Scores - December 2

UTA 97, Incarnate Word 49
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A red-hot start and huge final 10 minutes sparked UT Arlington's largest win over a fellow NCAA Division I program since 2007 as the Lady Mavericks topped Incarnate Word 97-49 on Sunday at the McDermott Center.

The 48-point margin was the largest for UTA since posting a 51-point win over Nicholls State in 2007, a season in which UTA won the Southland Conference and reached the NCAA Tournament. It marked the ninth highest margin, and second against a Division I program as all previous were prior to the NCAA in 1981 or against teams from lower divisions.

ULM 63, Northwestern State 55
Nachitoches, La. - Thanks to another strong defensive effort and the hot shooting hand of junior Destini Lunsford, the ULM women's basketball team won its fourth straight game on Sunday, topping Northwestern State 63-55 at Prather Coliseum.

Lunsford tallied her fourth straight career-high scoring effort, pouring in 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including a 5-of-9 day from three-point range. The nine field goals and five three-point field goals also mark single-game career-highs for Lunsford.

Appalachian State 80, College of Charleston 66
BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball (5-3) used a stellar fourth quarter to fend off College of Charleston (2-5) in an 80-66 victory on Sunday afternoon in the Holmes Center.

Five players scored in double figures with Ashley Polacek, Tierra Wilson, and Bayley Plummer all netting 12 points. Plummer once again dominated the glass with a game-high 20 boards for her second double-double of the season. Maya Calder came off the bench to score 10 points and despite being in foul trouble, Lainey Gosnell still managed to score 10 on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Wilson dished out four assists in her first start of the season, and both Polacek and Madi Story also recorded four helpers. Story scored seven points and added six off the glass.

Georgia Tech 78, Georgia State 71
ATLANTA - Jada Lewis scored a team-high 16 points but Georgia State fell 78-71 to Georgia Tech Sunday after an exciting fourth quarter comeback came up just short at GSU Sports Arena.

Madison Ervin, who scored all 12 of her points in the second half, helped the Panthers cut a 14-point second half deficit to as little as five late in the fourth quarter, but Georgia Tech hung on, led by Francesca Pan, who scored a game-high 22 points.
