Southeastern La. 6, ULM 0
The ULM soccer team allowed five goals in the first half of play on Friday afternoon (Sept. 7) in Southeastern's 6-0 win against the Warhawks at home at the ULM Soccer Complex.
The Warhawks did their best offensively, setting a season-high with 14 shots in the loss. Despite the push on offense, ULM struggled to keep SLU out of the back of the net.
Kennesaw State 1, Georgia Southern 0
On a toasty evening in Kennesaw, Georgia, the Georgia Southern women's soccer team competed in their final non-conference match of the season. The Owls jumped out to an early lead in the ninth minute, after Erin Harris scored her second goal of the season off the assist of Morgan Harrison.
The first half ended with the Eagles trailing 1-0 and down in the shot totals 7-4. Coming out of half, the Eagles pressured the Kennesaw State keeper, making her work for all five saves she had to make. Jocelyn Springer collected another six saves this evening, as Ashton Adams and Victoria Howell made their season debuts.
Tulsa 3, Louisiana 1
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Tulsa in the opening match of the Rice Tournament on Friday at Holloway Field.
The Golden Hurricane (3-2-1) outshot the Ragin' Cajuns (1-4-2) 19-7 in the match but only had an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.
Freshman Gwen Mummert led the team with three shots in the game while collecting her first career goal.
Texas 2, Texas State 1
Texas State soccer team battled hard against 18th-ranked Texas but came up short thanks two unfortunate bounces fell 2-1 Friday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
With the loss, the Bobcats drop to 2-5-0 on the season while the Longhorns are now 5-0-1 overall.
Georgia 2, Georgia State 0
Georgia State women’s soccer fell 2-0 to Georgia Friday night at the Turner Soccer Complex. Friday’s match was the first time since 2013 the Panthers had faced an opponent from the Southeastern Conference.
GSU dropped to 2-4-1 on the season while Georgia improved to 3-2-2 overall. The Panthers suffered their second loss in a row after a three-game stretch without a defeat at the end of August.
TCU 2, Little Rock 0
An impressive two-goal performance from TCU's Maddy Warren was enough to give the Horned Frogs the edge over the Trojans in their 2-0 win on a rainy Friday night at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Complex.
A thunderstorm was detected near the field at the 36-minute mark and both teams were forced to vacate the pitch as a 30-minute lightning delay was put into effect. Play would quickly resume, however, the steady rain would continue to fall.
Tennessee Tech 2, Troy 1 (OT)
Troy suffered a tough 2-1 loss in overtime at Tennessee Tech on Saturday.
Tennessee Tech (4-3-0) scored early on a long-distance shot from Marta Moreno. Moreno collected the ball 30 yards from goal, spit a pair of defenders and fired a shot that sailed into the top right corner.
