DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Texas State University's women’s golf team shot a 2-over par 290 on the first day of action at the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship and will enter the second day of competition in first place. The Bobcats own a one-shot lead over Georgia Southern and Troy, which both finished tied for second at three-over par.
Georgia Southern's Julianna Collett, Texas State's Sasikarn Somboonsup and Anne-Charlotte Mora, and Troy's Lindsey Harrison are the leaders after the first round. The four finished tied at two-under par (70). Mora leads all players with five birdies. Harrison is tied for second with four.
South Alabama sits in fourth, five shots back of leader Texas State, with a first round total of 295. Arkansas State is fifth after carding an 11-over 299.
Of the 55 players in the field, 17 are within five shots of the leaders and 45 posted scores at 80 or below.
Round two begins at 8:00 a.m. ET from split tees on Nos. 1 and 10. The top six teams will all tee off on the No. 1 hole, while Nos. 7 through 11 will go off the No. 10 tee on Tuesday.
