DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The South Alabama Jaguars won its second Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship with a 54-hole score of 877 (+13) at the LPGA International Hills Course. The title is the first for the program since 1997 and gives the Jaguars the Sun Belt's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
The Jaguars, for the second consecutive round, shot the best round of the day, a four-over 292, to claim the team title by three strokes.
Texas State was the runner-up at 880 (+16). Georgia Southern was third with a final score of 882 (+18), and Troy was fourth at 886 (+22). Arkansas State finished fifth with a three-day total of 889 (+25) to round out the top five.
The individual crown was awarded to Georgia Southern's Ella Ofstedahl. The junior carded a 69 (-3) in round three to earn her the victory with a total score of 213 (-3). Ofstedahl is the first Sun Belt champion in the history of the Georgia Southern women's golf program, which completed its fourth season in the league.
The Sun Belt All-Tournament Team was announced at the conclusion of the third round. The team consists of the top six individual finishers following 54 holes. A complete list is listed below.
Teams and qualifying individuals will be back in action with the 2019 NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals scheduled for May 6-8 and the NCAA Women's Golf Championship set for May 17-22 at Blessings Golf Course in Fayetteville, Ark. Selections for the NCAA Women's Golf Championship will be announced on Wednesday, April 24, at 4:30 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel.
