TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball team earned its 21st win of the season Thursday night in front of a crowd of over 2,000. The Trojans 21st win of the season came against traditional Sun Belt power Little Rock, 77-59. The win keeps the Trojans in a tie for first-place in the Sun Belt standings with Coastal Carolina.
The contrasting styles of play were on full display Thursday night as the pace of play was slowed and defense became the key. Both teams shot right around 30 percent for the first-half before finding a rhythm in the second. Troy found its rhythm right away in the third and used that to end the game shooting 35 percent on 30-of-84 shooting. The Trojans were led offensively by Alexus Dye who recorded her team-high seventh double-double of the season with 16-points and a career-high 17 rebounds. Dye was joined in double-figures on the offensive end by Amber Rivers (13-points), Kayla Robinson (12-points) and Japonica James (10-points). Kayla Robinson and James both nearly recorded double-doubles of their own as they grabbed eight and seven boards respectively.
