Texas State Paces Field Following Round 1 at SBC Women's Golf Championship

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – (Round 1 Results | Round 2 Pairings) On an overcast day that included a 45-minute weather delay, Texas State took a five-stroke lead over the 11-team field at the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship. 

The Bobcats posted a score of 9-under par 279 to top the team leaderboard after Round 1 at the par-72, 6,193-yard LPGA International Hills Course. 
 
Coastal Carolina also finished in the red with a 4-under par 284 to sit in second place, while Georgia Southern will join the Bobcats and Chanticleers in Monday’s top pairing after shooting 4-over par 292. 
 
Texas State­—graduate student Sasikarn Somboonsup and sophomore Noramol Nuchsila—and Coastal Carolina—junior Sophia Carlsen and junior Tiffany Arani—each had a pair of student-athletes shoot 3-under par 69 to pace the 55-player field. 

South Alabama (+7, 295), Arkansas State (+9, 297), Troy (+13, 301), ULM (+14, 302), App State (+15, 303), Little Rock (+16, 304), Georgia State (+27, 315) and UTA (+31, 319) round out the conference championship field. 

The second round of the 54-hole championship begins at 8:00 a.m. ET on Monday and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and live scored via Golfstat
