Second Round Pairings) After a rain-soaked championship a year ago, blue skies were a welcome sight for the opening round of the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship, where Georgia Southern took a three-stroke lead over the 11-team field.
The Eagles carded a 6-over par 294 to top the team leaderboard after Round 1 at the par-72, 6,283-yard LPGA International Hills Course. UTA and Arkansas State will join Georgia Southern in Monday’s top pairing after shooting 9-over par 297.
Georgia Southern fifth-year Mia Kness shot 3-under par 69 to pace the 55-golfer field—as 1-of-2 players under par alongside UTA junior Heidrun Hlynsdottir (-1, 71).
Troy (+10, 298), App State (+13, 301), ULM (+15, 303), Coastal Carolina (+15, 303), Texas State (+17, 305), Little Rock (+18, 306), South Alabama (+18, 306) and Georgia State (+19, 307) round out the conference championship field.
The second round of the 54-hole championship begins at 8:00 a.m. ET on Monday and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and
live scored via Golfstat.
