NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion fourth year golfer Lucia Gonzalez finished tied for eighth at the Lady Paladin Invitational after carding a five-under par 211, earning her Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week honors.
 
Gonzalez, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, turned in a 73 (+1) in the first round and 70 (-2) in the second round to finish at 12th overall in the individual standings at Furman’s Lady Paladin Invitational. She saved her best for last, sinking seven birdies to finish with a four-under 68 and move to eighth in the individual leaderboard.
 
She led a trio of Monarchs to finish under par in the tournament and helped Old Dominion to a fifth-place finish with an even 864 strokes.
 
This week’s honor is the first of Gonzalez’s career, which saw her redshirt last season before returning to action this fall. She earned All-Sun Belt Tournament honors in her last full season in 2024-25 for the second time in her time in Norfolk and was a First Team All-SBC selection as a true freshman in 2022-23.
