ULM’s Konst & JMU’s Munson Secure Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors

NEW ORLEANS – ULM’s Inge Konst & JMU’s Brittany Munson earn Sun Belt weekly accolades after each turning in standout performances for their respective teams on the opening weekend of the 2022 women’s soccer season.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Inge Konst, ULM
(SO. | Balk, Netherlands)

Warhawks’ sophomore midfielder Inge Konst scored all three of ULM’s goals in the season-opening win at Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday. The Balk, Netherlands, native, scored in the 68th minute off an assist from Kédie Johnson, added a penalty kick in the 74th minute for the 2-0 lead, and iced the win and picked up the hat trick in the 81st minute with an assist to Mara Grutkamp. It marked the ninth hat trick in program history and the fourth in the last three seasons.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Brittany Munson, JMU
(R-JR. | Merrick, N.Y.)

Dukes’ redshirt-junior defender Brittany Munson helped anchor a backline that posted back-to-back shutouts to begin the 2022 campaign. Munson was able to help the backline hold VCU to 12 shots during the season opener before only allowing four shots from Morehead State on Sunday, with only two going on target. The two shutouts also mark the first time since 2007 that the Dukes opened up the season with two clean sheets.
