NEW ORLEANS – App State’s Ethan Lipham and Southern Miss’ Oliwia Wawrzyniak each finished in the top ten of their respective races and tallied career-best times to claim the third week of Sun Belt Cross Country Runners of the Week honors.
Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Ethan Lipham

Mountaineer’s freshman Lipham led the way over the weekend at the Firetower Project Run with a first-place finish overall. The Largo, Fla. native improved upon his personal-best in the 8K with a time of 25:19.13, which is nearly 30 seconds faster than his previous best. Additionally, he helped the Mountaineers to a first-place team finish with a score of 20.
Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Oliwia Wawrzyniak

Gold Eagles’ freshman Oliwia Wawrzyniak took eighth place in the 5K run at the North Alabama Showcase as she led the way for Southern Miss. The Poznan, Poland native finished with a time of 16:50.33. Wawrzyniak helped the Golden Eagles finish sixth overall among the 39-team field, as they followed winner Alabama (73 points), along with Kentucky (78), Georgia Tech (110), Auburn (125) with an overall score of 196 points in the event.
