App State’s Emily Carver Nabs Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor

NEW ORLEANS – App State’s Emily Carver is the Sun Belt Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after a pair of career outings.

Emily Carver was the Mountaineers' top scorer in App State’s 77-73 victory over the College of Charleston on Dec. 5 as well as in the squad’s overtime battle at Richmond on Dec. 10. In Tuesday's win against the College of Charleston, Carver netted a career-high 28 points to go along with a career-high nine made free throws. The Asheville, N.C. native knocked down 6-of-7 from the field, a perfect 2-of-2 from the arc, and 7-of-9 from the line, accounting for 21 of App State's 29 points in the third quarter against the Cougars. She also recorded four rebounds, one assist, one block, and three steals on Tuesday. In Sunday's overtime battle with Richmond, Carver came within one of her new career-high, netting a team-high 27 points. Carver accounted for seven of the Mountaineers' 13 treys against the Spiders. She also recorded five rebounds, five assists, and four steals against Richmond. Through Dec. 9, Carver ranks eighth for steals per game and rounds out the top-10 for points per game in the Sun Belt.
