NEW ORLEANS – App State freshman midfielder Ellie Garrison and Coastal Carolina senior goalkeeper Vivienne Carr earned Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors for their performances during the season’s third week of competition.
Garrison is the first Mountaineer to receive the Sun Belt’s top weekly honor on offense since Breckyn Monteith on Oct. 26, 2021, while Carr is the first Chanticleer to earn the league’s top weekly defensive nod since Oct. 30, 2022 when Katelyn Kellogg accomplished the feat.
Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Ellie Garrison, App State

Garrison notched a brace for the Mountaineers in a 2-0 victory over Longwood on Aug. 29, netting the first two goals of her collegiate career. The 2023 North Carolina Golden Boot award winner recorded both tallies in the final 15 minutes of the opening half. Garrison's two goals this season are tied for fifth in the Sun Belt and stands tied for the most among freshmen. Her five points are tied for seventh in the league and are the most amongst freshmen in the conference.
Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Vivienne Carr, Coastal Carolina

Carr recorded back-to-back shutouts against East Carolina and UAB to help the Chanticleers to an undefeated third week of the season. The senior made three saves off 10 shots in the scoreless draw at East Carolina on Aug. 29. She followed up that performance with three more saves off nine shots, including a stop in the final seconds of Coastal's 1-0 home win over UAB on Sept. 1.
