Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Schedule Hits Halfway Mark During Midweek Slate

NEW ORLEANS – The 2025 Sun Belt Conference women’s soccer schedule hits the halfway point as each team kicks off their fifth league match during a full slate of midweek matchups on Thursday, October 2.

The docket includes three East Division and three West Division matches, as well as one cross-division contest. All seven matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.

BOBCATS BEACON
Texas State (6-2-3, 3-0-1 SBC) has raced out to a hot start in Sun Belt play with a league-leading 10 points in the standings as one of three unbeaten teams through the first four matches. The Bobcats rank No. 7 nationally in shot accuracy (.574), No. 11 in points per game (7.82), No. 13 in assists per game (2.73) and No. 14 in total goals (28). Winners of three-straight conference matches, Texas State has been propelled by Sun Belt Player of the Week and senior forward Mady Soumare as well as sophomore midfielder Helen Alormenu who have each tallied at least one point in each match during the team’s winning streak. Soumare has two goals and two assists, and Alormenu has one goal and two assists, as the duo looks to extend their scoring streak in a road match against West Division foe Arkansas State.

MICROSCOPE ON MONROE
Holding the Sun Belt’s longest active unbeaten streak (5-0-2) at seven-straight matches, ULM (7-2-2, 2-0-2 SBC) hosts South Alabama (7-3, 3-1 SBC) in a key West Division battle. The Warhawks will host their seventh home match of the season and are the conference’s only remaining team without a home defeat. Meanwhile, the Jaguars will play their third-straight road match in league play Thursday in Monroe, La., and lead the Sun Belt with 11 goals scored and just two goals allowed through four conference games. Individually, the Jags’ Aliya Gomes is tied for the league lead with six points against Sun Belt opponents.

MONARCHS MISSION
Old Dominion (6-1-3, 2-0-2 SBC) owns the Sun Belt’s second-longest active unbeaten streak at six in a row with four wins and two draws dating back to a Sept. 4 home win over then-20th-ranked Virginia Tech. The Monarchs currently lead the East Division with eight conference points and five division points, as junior goalkeeper currently ranks 11th nationally in goals against average (0.40) and stands in a four-way tie for the Sun Belt lead with four shutouts. Old Dominion is also unbeaten in 11-consecutive home matches against conference opponents with a 6-0-5 ledger in those contests and hosts Troy in the lone cross-divisional game on the midweek schedule.

FADDOUL UP FRONT
Georgia State junior forward Aaliyah Faddoul currently ranks No. 1 among NCAA Division I players in shots on goal per game (2.83) and No. 3 in total shots per game (5.25).
