NEW ORLEANS – James Madison’s Ashanti Barnes earns Sun Belt women’s basketball player of the week after recording

Barnes posted a 22 point and 13 rebound double-double versus No. 19 Notre Dame on Sunday helping JMU wrap up its non-conference slate with an 8-4 record. Barnes shot .47.1 percent from the floor and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, while dishing out a pair of assists in the 65-78 loss.
 
Barnes is the only Sun Belt player this season with multiple double-doubles consisting of 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds, having done so three times in so far. She is also tied for 14th in Division I with 114 total rebounds.
