Southern Miss Wins 2025 Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship

POINT CLEAR, Ala. – Southern Miss claimed the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Thursday afternoon at The Lakewood Golf Club and will appear in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

The three-seeded Golden Eagles defeated No. 2 seed Coastal Carolina, 3-2, in the match play semifinals before topping No. 1 seed Georgia Southern, 3-2, in the championship.

Hole No. 9 became center stage for the final moments of the semifinal round of the tournament when junior Taylor Trible closed out the teams 3&2 victory, securing the team’s decisive third point and sending the team to the championship round.

In the match play final, Southern Miss senior and the 2025 Sun Belt Individual Champion, Momoka Ando, secured the win for the Golden Eagles on the par-three 17th hole to clinch the team victory.

The 2025 NCAA Women’s Golf Regionals selection show will be aired live on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, April 23 at 10 a.m. CT.

The Lakewood Golf Club, a member of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, had its beginnings in 1944. Perry Maxwell, designer of the Tulsa Southern Hills Country Club, created Lakewood’s original Dogwood course in 1947, making it the first professional quality golf course in south Alabama. Lakewood Golf Club hosted the 1974, 1986 and 2021 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship.
