CARLSBAD, Calif. – Troy men's golf team closed out its season at the NCAA Championship on Sunday. The Trojans closed out play at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa North Course in 29
th place.
Brantley Scott led the Trojans, shooting 3-over for the tournament to finish in a tie for 36
th place and just one shot out of making the cut for Monday's final round without the need for a playoff. He was two shots off the number heading to his final two holes but bogeyed both the 17
th and 18
th.
Jake Springer turned in Troy's best round of the day with a 2-over 74 after closing his day with a birdie. Springer tied with Lee Poppell for 116
th place at 13-over for the tournament, while Nick Fowlkes tied for 130
th and Pablo Gracia tied for 147
th.
The Trojans's were the only Sun Belt team to advance on to the National Championship. Texas State's Sakke Siltala advanced as an individual and finished finished 2-over par in a tie for 36th.
