Texas State’s Simme & James Madison’s Williams and Hoffmann Earn Sun Belt Women’s Tennis Weekly Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Texas State’s Ireland Simme and James Madison’s Sophie Williams and Brooklyn Hoffmann earn Sun Belt Conference Women’s Tennis Players of the Week honors after successful weeks on the court.

Texas State senior Ireland Simme posted a perfect 4–0 record on the road this past weekend, earning two wins in both singles and doubles play. Competing on court four, Simme went 2–0 in singles, defeating both opponents in straight sets. She also teamed with freshman Olivia Collins on court one in doubles, where the duo secured two victories to help lead Texas State to an undefeated weekend. Simme secured the win over her opponent from St. Mary’s 6-1,6-2 before defeating her opponent from UTRGV 6-3, 6-1. Her first doubles appearance featured a 6-3 victory before the 6-1 showing against UTRGV.

Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Sophie Williams / Brooklyn Hoffmann, James Madison

The James Madison pair of Sophie Williams and Brooklyn Hoffmann turned in a 2-0 doubles record on court one against Kentucky and #7 Duke. The duo opened the weekend with a 6-2 victory over Kentucky’s Marina Fuduric and Julia Zhu, helping the Dukes clinch the doubles point. The tandem turned in their best win of the year against Duke, as they beat Clare An and Liv Hovde, 6-3.
