NEW ORLEANS – Following series victories over nationally-ranked conference opponents, Georgia State’s Michael Caruso and Texas State’s Rashawn Galloway claimed the Sun Belt baseball weekly awards. 
 
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Michael Caruso, Georgia State 
(Jr., RHP – Phoenix, Ariz.)
 
Panthers junior right-handed pitcher Michael Caruso appeared in all three Georgia State wins on the week, earning both victories on the hill in the weekend series win over then-No. 22 Arkansas State. The Phoenix, Ariz., native threw 7.1 shutout innings, striking out seven and conceding just two hits and one walk. Caruso held opponents to a .087 batting average and faced the minimum in both of his wins over the Red Wolves. 
 
Baseball Player of the Week
Rashawn Galloway, Texas State 
(Sr., C – Boerne, Texas) 
 
Bobcats senior catcher Rashawn Galloway hit .500 (8-for-16) and slugged .938 in a 3-1 week for Texas State, including a weekend series sweep of then-No. 22 Louisiana. The Boerne, Texas, product registered a double, two home runs, six runs scored and seven RBI. Galloway recorded a base hit in all four games to extend his hitting streak to 16 games, headlined by a pair of three-run shots in the series-clinching win over the Ragin’ Cajuns.
