Georgia Southern's Horne Named Sun Belt Men's Golfer of the Month

NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern sophomore Thomas Horne had a standout month for the Eagles, earning Sun Belt men’s golfer of the month.

Horne had strong finishes at the Johnnie-O, the Schenkel Invitational, and the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational over the last month. At the Johnnie-O, he shot 9-under (207) with rounds of 67-70-70 to tie for 12th. He recorded 15 birdies in the event, leading the team.
 
At the Schenkel, he shot even-par (216) to tie for 27th, recording 14 birdies and an eagle.
 
At the Haskins, he shot 15-under (201) with rounds of 69-67, finishing with a career-low 65 to tie for the lead and force a playoff. The sophomore fell on the third playoff hole and finished second.
 
Horne’s 201 at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational is the fifth-lowest three-round total in program history and marks just the 20th time an Eagle golfer has posted three rounds in the 60s in a single tournament.
 
For the month, he averaged 69.33 over nine rounds, recording 49 birdies, one eagle, and three top-30 finishes.
