POINT CLEAR, Ala. – The 2026 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship is set for Monday, April 20 through Thursday, April 23 at The Lakewood Club in Point Clear, Ala., featuring all 13 women’s golf programs in the league.
This marks the third year the Sun Belt Women’s Golf Championship will be held at The Lakewood Golf Club’s Dogwood Course. The 54-hole tournament features three rounds of stroke play on the par-72, 6,164-yard course. All four rounds of the championship will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with live results on
Scoreboard.
The championship will begin with three rounds of stroke play, April 20-23 at 8 a.m. CT each day in a split-tee format with six teams teeing off on No. 1 and seven teams starting at No. 10.
Following 54 holes of stroke play, top four teams will advance to match play on Thursday, April 23 with the No. 1 and No. 4 seed beginning at hole No. 1 and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds teeing off at hole No. 10 at 7:30 am. The championship match will follow the conclusion of the semifinal matches.
In 2025, Southern Miss claimed its first Sun Belt Conference women’s golf championship before representing the league at the NCAA Regionals. Georgia Southern earned an at large bid to Regionals, finishing top five and earning a trip to the NCAA Championship.
Three Sun Belt Conference teams are ranked among the top 100 teams nationally according to the latest Scoreboard National Collegiate Golf Rankings: No. 54 Texas State, No. 69 ULM and No. 94 South Alabama.
Among current Sun Belt Conference women’s golf programs, Troy leads the way with three all-time championships, while Texas State, Coastal Carolina and South Alabama each have two.
The Lakewood Golf Club, a member of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, had its beginnings in 1944. Perry Maxwell, designer of the Tulsa Southern Hills Country Club, created Lakewood’s original Dogwood course in 1947, making it the first professional quality golf course in south Alabama. Lakewood Golf Club hosted the 1974, 1986 and 2021 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship.
