NEW ORLEANS – Arkansas State’s Brandon Williams & ULM’s Benedikt Schweizer have earned recognition as the Sun Belt Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performances over the last week.

Arkansas State track and field distance runner Brandon Williams set a new program record in the men's 800 meters on April 30 at the Maroon and White Tune Up. The Oxford, Miss., native registered a time of 1:48.30 in the event and surpassed Hannes Fahl's previous program-best mark of 1:48.70 set at the 2023 Bryan Clay Invitational. He holds the fastest 800-meter time among Sun Belt runners by 1.3 seconds and ranks 12th in the South Central Region.

ULM sophomore thrower Benedikt Schweizer threw for a personal-best distance of 66.28m/217-5 in the hammer throw, earning first place at the meet in Monroe. His result puts him atop the Sun Belt list and at third best in the South Central Region performance list. He also ranks as the 14th best distance in the NCAA East list and 32nd in Division I.
