NEW ORLEANS – James Madison third year Bella Flores and Troy first year Roberta Alvarez of Troy are Sun Belt Conference Co-Women’s Golfers of the Week after tying each other in the second full week of the 2026-27 season.
Flores and Alvarez both carded a 4-under 212 to tie for sixth place at the Pirate Collegiate Classic at Greenville Country Club in Greenville, North Carolina.
Bella Flores, James Madison
(Third year | Kingwood, Texas)
Flores, a native of Kingwood, Texas, posted a career-best third round with a 5-under 67 to soar up the individual leaderboard. Her total is the third-lowest round total in James Madison history and seventh time a Duke has carded a 67 or lower in a single round.
Her 5-under round is tied for the third lowest in program history and just the fifth time overall a Duke has reached the mark. She led the Dukes to a ninth overall finish among the field and finishes in the top 10 on an individual leaderboard for the second time in her career.
Roberta Alvarez, Troy
(First Year | The Woodlands, Texas)
Alvarez, in just her second tournament at the collegiate level, reached her 4-under 212 final thanks to consistent play in all three rounds of the Pirate Collegiate Classic. She tied for third amongst the field with 14 birdies and tied for the second on par 5s with a 7-under mark.
Over the course of the tournament, she had just one hole worse than a bogey. Two of her round scores finished under par and helped the Trojans to an eighth overall finish as a team.
