STARKVILLE, Miss. – South Alabama’s postseason came to an end on a 4-0 setback to No. 7 Mississippi State in the second round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship.
The Jaguars ranked pair of sophomores Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol grabbed a 6-2 win over the top-ranked doubles team in the country in Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic at No. 1 but the host Bulldogs grabbed the doubles point with wins at other two positions.
Mississippi State closed out the match with singles wins at the Nos. 2, 4 and 6. South Alabama closed the season with a 15-10 record.
The season is not over for Cloes and Marzol as the duo Cloes and Marzol will compete in the men’s 32-team doubles draw May 23-28 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.
