NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion men’s tennis student-athlete Piet Steveker has been named to the College Sports Communicators 2025-26 Academic All-America Division I Men’s Tennis Second Team, as announced by the organization last week.
Steveker became the 30th Monarch to earn the honor and the first men’s tennis player in program history. Winning the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year award, Steveker led the Monarchs with a 21-8 mark in singles as Old Dominion captured its fourth consecutive tournament title in Rome, Ga. this year.
Steveker joined 16 additional Sun Belt men’s tennis student-athletes on the CSC Academic All-District teams. James Madison and South Alabama led the league with four selections.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Men’s Tennis teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men’s tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District® Men's Tennis Team, an individual must hold at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA (both undergraduate and graduate), be a sophomore or older and have played in at least 70% of the team's matches during the spring.
