NEW ORLEANS – South Carolina sweeps the Sun Belt Men’s Soccer weekly awards for the second consecutive week after a unbeaten week of action.
Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Ethan Ballek, South Carolina

Ballek played a major role in South Carolina’s unbeaten week including a win over No. 11 UNCG on the road. The senior finished the week with three goals and two assists with multiple points in both games, totaling eight points on the week. In the win over Winthrop, he tallied two goals and an assist all in the first half. Against No. 11 UNCG, Ballek contributed to both goals, scoring the first and assisting on the game wining second goal. With six goals, five assists and 14 points, he now ranks in a top-10 of the nation in all three categories.
Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
William Nilsson, South Carolina
(Sr. | D | Helsingborg, Sweden)
Nilsson played all 90 minutes against No. 11 UNCG and 73 minutes against Winthrop. Nilsson anchored a defense that limited Winthrop to zero shots in the first half and only one shot on goal for the match. He then aided in keeping UNCG without a shot on goal in the second half and only four shots on goal overall.
