NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina’s Darin Horn and Arkansas State’s Derek Martinez secured the Sun Belt baseball weekly accolades after contributions to weekend series wins. 
 
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Darin Horn, Coastal Carolina 
(RS Sr., RHP – Bluffton, S.C.) 
 
Chanticleers redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Darin Horn played a key role in a pair of Coastal Carolina victories in a 4-0 week to extend its winning streak to seven games. The Bluffton, S.C., product threw 6.0 shutout innings, striking out 12 and scattering four hits and a walk. Horn worked the final three frames and earned the win in a come-from-behind 11-9 victory over then-No. 24 Clemson. He also closed out the series-clinching win over Marshall, with a three-frame save. Across the two outings, Horn held opponents to a .182 batting average.  
 
Baseball Player of the Week
Derek Martinez, Arkansas State 
(Fr., C – Clermont, Fla.)
 
Red Wolves freshman catcher Derek Martinez hit .455 (5-for-11) and slugged 1.273 in a weekend series win over James Madison. The Clermont, Fla., native hit a pair of two-run homers in the series-opening win over the Dukes and added a grand slam in the second game of the series. Martinez tallied three home runs, four runs scored and nine RBI on the weekend—more than doubling his home run and RBI totals for the season.
