Texas State’s Parra and Duron Sweep Sun Belt Women’s Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Texas State’s Abigail Parra and Melanie Duron earned recognition as the Sun Belt Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performance last week. 

Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Abigail Parra, Texas State

In the mile, Abigail Parra set the Texas State program record and placed fourth with a time of 4:42.69. She sits ranked second in the SBC for the event.  She also posted the second-best time for the 800m in the SBC at the Charlie Thomas Invite. She recorded a time of 2:10.81 and finished in seventh place. Her time was the eighth best in school history. She now sits in the top five for three events (800, mile, 3000m) in the Sun Belt Conference.

Melanie Duron, Texas State

Texas State’s Melanie Duron placed second in the shot put at the Charlie Thomas Invite. She recorded a mark of 16.57m, which was the third-best throw in Bobcat history. She leads the SBC in the event by over .6 meters and is the only athlete in the SBC to record a mark over 16 meters this season.
